The new series Keeping Democracy Alive, in partnership with the Contra Costa County Library, begins March 25 with Does My Vote Count? The Future of the Electoral College.

Established in our Constitution by the Founding Fathers as a compromise, the Electoral College has become more and more controversial in the 21st Century. Why was it created? What were the political implications then? Now? Should we change it, or eliminate it? What is the National Popular Vote? Is there a better way?

Join our public program via Zoom to explore these questions and more. Panel will be moderated by Helen Hutchison, immediate past-president of LWV California. Panelists include:
  • Representative Mark DeSaulnier
  • Stephen Woolpert, Politics Professor, St. Mary’s College
  • Barry Fadem, President of National Popular Vote
  • Jane Pandell. 2020 California Elector

After the panel of experts, there will be time for Q&A, using the Zoom Chat feature.
