How Do Physicians View Their Role in Society?

Some say that doctors should “stay in their lane” and focus on healing the sick and fighting disease.  However, they can do so much more for society, according to the non-profit Physicians for Social Responsibility.  Doctors in the organization believe that they can work politically for a peaceful world and help protect the public from threats of nuclear proliferation, climate change and environmental toxins.

Dr. ROBERT GOULD, a pathologist at UC San Francisco School of Medicine and president of the Physicians for Social Responsibility San Francisco-Bay Area since 1989, will give a talk entitled “Physician for Social Responsibility” about the work of the PSR and its relevance in our democracy.
