OUR MISSION AND ROLES

The League of Women Voters of Fresno (LWVF) is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. We never support or oppose any political party or candidate.

We serve the cities and counties of Fresno County. Contact us for more information and be sure to check our calendar for upcoming meetings.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to men and women age 16 and older.  Annual membership dues entitle the member to full participation in general League activities, voting rights on League positions and Board elections, and attendance at Board and other specified meetings.

DIVERSITY POLICY

There shall be no barriers to participation in any activity of LWVF on the basis of citizenship, race, creed, national original, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or socio-economic level.

HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF FRESNO

Twenty-six members of the LWVF adopted bylaws in 1941.  The local league's 75th anniversary was celebrated in 2016, with approximately 150 members.  Since its inception the League of Women Voters of Fresno has been a nonpartisan source of voter education, encouraging informed and active participation in government.  It strives to influence public policy through education and advocacy of local, state and national positions in such areas as education, finance, housing, land use, transportation, health and mental health.
