Bots Tried to Silence Us—They Failed. Stand with Us!

Women will not be shut down. Not Now. Not Ever.

Over the weekend, while many were honoring the contributions of labor to our society, the LWVC faced a bot attack designed to shut our website down. Our security measures prevailed - the bots did not take us down, but we have some additional updates to make.  Our staff has been hard at work assessing the situation and adding new security measures designed to shore up our online presence even further against future attacks.

It’s not the first time the League has been targeted and it won’t be the last. As you may recall, in 2022, the platform formerly known as Twitter suddenly and inexplicably shut down my account the day before the election.  We didn’t go quietly then, and we are not going quietly now. The power of women in our democracy is indisputable - the power of the League in engaging and energizing women to be forces for good and to protect and defend our democracy is indisputable.

And so we face these attacks - where they try to shut women up and shut us down.

Spoiler alert - it’s not going to work. It didn’t work in 2022, it didn’t work this weekend. It has never worked. Women are powerful - in our families, in our communities, and in our government. That power isn’t going anywhere because some scared keyboard warriors try to silence us.

Please make a generous gift today to help us keep harnessing the power of women in our democracy and let everyone know that we are not to be trifled with.

They will not shut women up or shut women down.
