All League members and the public are invited to the Monthly League of Women Voters - Redding meeting on April 24, 2024 at noon in the Redding Library, Community Room. The speaker will be Kristen Schreder who will be talking about the NorCal Continuum of Care.  Come learn what it is and how it can address important issues facing our community. 

About our guest speaker:

Kristen served in elected office for 25 years. She was elected to the Redding City Council in November 2014 and was re-elected November 2018 to a second four-year term. She served twice as Mayor. From 1997 to 2014, Kristen served as a school trustee, 8 ½ years on the Redding SD Board of Trustees and 8 ½ years on the Shasta UHSD Board of Trustees and valued the opportunity to support and adopt policies to ensure success for all students.

She is committed to helping create a better community and has been the founder and leader of several non-profits in Redding. Some of Kristen’s current community service includes: Chair, NorCal Continuum of Care Executive Board, Co-Chair of the NorCal Continuum of Care, Shasta Advisory Board, member of Shasta Health Assessment and Redesign Collaborative, Integrated Care Committee (SHARC-ICC), founder and member of the Homeless Youth Alliance, community member of the Shasta County Community Action Board, community member of the

Social Services Transportation Advisory Council for the Shasta Regional Transportation Agency, and community member of the United Way of Northern California Community Impact Committee. She is a founding member and Board Chair of the non-profit Friends of Schreder Planetarium.

Kristen was the founder and Project Lead for the Redding Area Homelessness Coalition Project from 2015 to 2018, a 2017 Leadership Redding graduate, and a founding Cabinet Member and Past Chair of The Women’s Fund. Memberships include League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, Shasta Historical Society and Shasta Living Streets. 

Kristen Schreder was born and raised in Redding, and after graduating from Enterprise High School, she attended Shasta Community College and California State University, Chico, graduating with honors and a bachelor’s degree in Social Science. She completed paralegal training at The National Center for Paralegal Training in Atlanta, Georgia. Kristen has two children, a daughter (and son-in-law) and a son who returned to live in Redding after college. For more than 30 years, she worked professionally as a school facility consultant and grant writer for California public school districts.
