Time Range For Action Alert:
May 29, 2019 to July 12, 2019January of 2018, 3rd. District Councilwoman Suzie Price impaneled the 3rd. District Fireworks Advisory Committee to conduct research and make recommendations to stop the use of illegal fireworks in the City of Long Beach.
The committee worked with the students of the CSULB Animation department. They dedicated their Spring semester to creating “The Safety Squad” cartoon PSA’s targeting school age children grades 2-6.
Fireworks produce both noise and air pollution. In accordance with League’s environmental sustainability position, we are posting these cartoons to inform and involve the public in sustainable principles and practices. The League is also committed to cooperating with local government and citizens commissions involved in promoting sustainability and safety in our community.
The League of Women Voters Long Beach Area supports the work of the Fireworks Safety Commission and we ask that folks share these videos with friends and family.
