News
Please join us this Saturday, August 21st on the Kelley House lawn in Mendocino, 1:00-3:00 pm, as we celebrate the 101st anniversary of the 19th Amendment.

This is a proud tradition which has been enacted every 5 years, although we missed the 100th anniversary last year, thus the 101st celebration. This event will include music and historical presentations - Fort Bragg City Council & Soroptimist member Tess Albin-Smith will moderate.

Included in our list of special presenters this year are CA State Treasurer Fiona Ma, 2nd District Supervisor & LWV member Mo Mulheren, LWV members Priscilla Comen, Jane Person, Val Muchowski and Fort Bragg City Council member Lindy Peters.  In addition, Jani Sheppard, Lori Laiwa and Loreto Rojas will present important history about the Black, Native American and New Citizen vote.  Vicki Baldwin of Soroptimist will speak about the history of women's service clubs & Dr. Zoe Berna will provide info about women in medicine.

This celebration is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Mendocino County, Mendocino Women’s Political Coalition, Soroptimists, and Cloud Forest Institute.

More info can be found in the attached LWV August VOTER newsletter as well as news articles around the county, such as Fort Bragg Advocate:Local women’s groups celebrate 101 years of voting – Fort Bragg Advocate-News
