Implementing the California Values Act (SB 54) - Engaging with Local Government

When Governor Brown signed SB 54, the California Values Act, aka the “Sanctuary State” bill, he said “This bill strikes a balance that will protect public safety while bringing a measure of comfort to those families who are now living in fear every day.”

How does SB 54 ensure this balance?

Speaker Raquel Ortega,  ACLU San Francisco, will discuss the act and strategies to implement this act  at the local level.

Speakers from local government will discuss what is happening at the local level on immigration. They include:

  • Carole Groom, Vice President San Mateo Board of Supervisors, District 2
  • Ann Schneider, Millbrae City Councilmember

The meeting is open to the public.
