Community Forum: Voting Rights!

Community Forum: Voting Rights!

The Washington Post on August 19 called voter suppression "the civil rights issue of this era." How did this happen, and what can we do about it?
The Leagues of Women Voters of Alameda and Oakland are co-sponsoring a free community forum, "What's Happening to Our Voting Rights? Voter Suppression and the Politics of Exclusion," on Thursday November 9th.

Helen Hutchison, President of the California League of Women Voters, will describe the League's challenges to the many forms of voter suppression at the national and state levels, including California.
A representative of ACLU will talk about its California lawsuits to protect voters' rights and its national launch of the "Let People Vote!" campaign.

Voting rights resources can be found here.

Everyone in the community is invited to this this important forum. Q&A will follow the presentations. Bring your questions and your friends! See our Events for details.
