LWVO has long advocated for open, transparent government. We are concerned that the rules of procedure under which our CC is currently operating do not provide appropriate notice and access. Nor do we feel these rules are justified by the current crisis. Learn more about this important issue in a recent article from Oaklandside that quotes at length LWVO Action Committee members Gail Wallace and Mary Bergan.  Read the letter the Action Committee sent to the City Council, resulting in the following response from Matthew Napoli, Policy Director for District 4 Councilmember Sheng Thao:

Councilmember Thao and I both wanted to reach out to you to thank you for your collaboration and support in amending Council’s Rules of Procedure.  CM Thao really appreciates your insight, ideas, and advocacy during this process, and passing this resolution was definitely a team effort.  Thank you all so much for your time and engagement.  In the future, please feel free to reach out to me at this email with any questions, concerns, or ideas.  I look forward to working with you all further.
