The League of Women Voters of Piedmont is pleased to announce that we are now forming groups to participate in the 2020 Great Decisions (GD) discussion program on global affairs sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association.

As those who have participated in years past know, GD is a series of eight meetings, lasting approximately two hours each, during which participants who have previously “read up” on “the topic of the week” (using the FPA-provided Briefing Book along with supplemental readings recommended by the FPA) will first watch a timely video regarding the topic and then engage in a lively discussion of that week’s material.

The last several GD programs were a tremendous success, with roughly 60 purchasing the Briefing Book and the majority attending some or all of the meetings.

The subjects to be covered in the 2020 GD program are as follows:

• Climate Change and the Global Order
• India and Pakistan
• Red Sea Security
• Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking
• U.S. Relations with the Northern Triangle
• China’s Road into Latin America
• The Philippines and the U.S.
• Artificial Intelligence and Data

Meetings will start the week of February 10th and will continue every other week thereafter until the final meeting on the week of May 19th. There are two separate meeting times as indicated below and you may attend either of the two meetings.
