You've heard of "movie nights", well we're having a "Movie Day".

The March 17th (Saturday) General Meeting (9:30 to 11:30 am) will feature videos on immigration and border patrol in preparation for the May 8th trip to Tijuana on deportation. The meeting will take place in the Community Room of the La Jolla Riford Public Library, 7555 Draper Avenue. We will show three short documentaries:

  • Border Wars showing the work of the Border Patrol finding people crossing the border illegally in Texas

  • Evicted which is a personal story of a deported veteran

  • The Other Side of Immigration (select parts) talking about how the U.S. immigration laws affect Mexico

In addition, a representative of the Border Patrol has been invited to speak to the group about their work and answer questions.

Contact: Beryl Flom, Chair of the Immigration & Deportation Committee,, 858-459-4406.

If you want to join the all day tour on May 8th to Tijuana focused on deportation, you must have a valid passport which does not expire until after November 8, 2018. We will carpool from the office to the border and park in secure lots, walk across and pick up a bus in Tijuana. Since the new pedestrian crossing has been installed, this is a much shorter way to cross the border. Details, cost, and a reservation form will be in the April Voter.
