Volunteer Opportunities with the League
Want to volunteer with the League? We have opportunities aplenty. We need everyone to be involved, especially with an election year, 2020 celebrations, and the 2020 census coming up.
2020 Celebrations – Join the Committee
Organizing events to celebrate the 100th anniversaries of the League and the 19th Amendment will require a lot of worker bees. It will be exhilarating, inspiring, and fun. There’s lots to do and lots to celebrate.
If you’d like to join the committee, please contact Janice Carr at jlcarr [at] charter.net or Juliane McAdam at juliane.mcadam [at] gmail.com.
Complete Count for the 2020 Census
The League has joined other community organizations in the county to assist with the 2020 census. “Complete Count” committee members are helping the county get the word out about the census count which begins April 1, 2020. We need a volunteer who will attend Complete Count meetings on behalf of the League and report to the Board. This is a vital issue. Because of significant funding cuts, only 20% of households will receive the complete census form in 2020. All others will receive a postcard instructing them how to fill out the census form online. An accurate census count is essential to the effective operation of our government institutions. If you can take on this important job, please contact Julie Rodewald at julie0513 [at] sbcglobal.net.
Climate Change – Join our Natural Resources Committee
At the 2019 state League convention in Pasadena last week delegates passed a resolution that climate change be addressed as an emergency. The state League has set up a Climate Change Task Force and we will be a part of it. To do that we need to revive our Natural Resources Committee. If the environment is your passion and you’d like to join, to follow local events and issues that deal with the environment and climate change, please contact Cindy Marie Absey at cindymarieabsey [at] gmail.com.
