LWVSB has been selected to be part of a community fundraising program conducted by The Fund for Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Independent. Our participation in Santa Barbara Gives! is an opportunity to expand the annual end of the year giving campaign of LWVSB’s Education Fund, with the potential of raising more money and attracting many new donors.

SB Gives! is a year-end fundraising program that’s new to our county (in its 2nd year), but is based on a model that has been successful in other communities. Last year SB Gives! raised a total of $402,537.95 for participating organizations. You’ll be hearing more in our next email update, in the December-January Channel Voter, in a 28-page printed guide inside the Nov. 15 Independent, on our website, on the SBGives! website, and on social media.

But we need your help now!

Because of the deadline for the guide, participating organizations are raising Challenge Gifts by Oct. 31. These gifts are a fundraising incentive to other donors, and the donors who make a pledge by this deadline will be recognized in the print guide if they choose. Donations made after that will be on the SBGives! website.

This is an excellent chance for the League to not only raise needed funds, but to increase our visibility in the community. With the help of the Independent and The Fund for Santa Barbara, we can tell more people than ever about the League, and hopefully many will become new supporters and members.
