We have heard about the children locked in cages in detention camps at our Mexican border—and realize that the memories and trauma will likely be with them for the rest of their lives. But, what happens to our local community’s children and families when they learn about the “kids in cages” and have immigration concerns about themselves and family members?

Please join us to hear from four Immigration Specialists who work with these issues every day in our region.

  • Blanca Figueroa, District Representative, Office of US Representative Salud Carbajal;
  • Javier Cerritos, Consul for Protection and Legal Affairs, Mexican Consulate;
  • Alejandra Cortes, Clinical Youth Outreach, Santa Barbara United School District;
  • Jacqueline Inda, Community Activist and Advocate, Santa Barbara Response Network

They will address what Santa Barbara is experiencing, the services that are now offered, and what is envisioned for the future.
