LWVC Convention 2019
If you can't come for the whole convention, consider registering for a day! You can find more information click here and specifics for the daily workshops and events will be posted in the beginning of May.
Our League submitted two entries for presentation at the LWVC Convention. Both were selected! At this year’s convention, there will be two workshops devoted to sharing great ideas from local Leagues. LWVSB’s New Voter Outreach project will be presented at a Friday, May 31 workshop and the Redistricting Reform project will be featured at a Saturday, June 1 workshop. Each local project will be one of five that will have 10 minutes for their presentations. The rest of the workshop will be for Q&A and discussion.
These were the selected submissions:

This summarized the work of Voter Service in 2019, based on the Fund for Santa Barbara grant (titled New Voter Outreach) and Voter Service Director Susan Horne’s detailed summary of what was accomplished in the primary and general elections. This included our team’s collaboration with other community organizations to register, educate and encourage people to vote, especially those who have not participated in the democratic process.
Category: Making Democracy Stronger, written by Mary Rose. The title of this was “Redistricting Reform; Turning Advocacy to Activism.” Based on LWVSB’s support for Measure G and against Measure H, the application explained our League’s support for a broad-based independent redistricting committee modeled after LWVC’s statewide commission. It detailed our work with a grassroots coalition, including the Santa Maria League
