We've just learned that Alpine Village is for sale and potentially threatened with substantial demolition. The Bavarian-themed shopping court with its Chalet-style facades opened in 1968 and has played a significant role in the celebration and promotion of German cultural heritage in Los Angeles County. Alpine Village is known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration, which it bills as the oldest in Southern California. It is also home to a variety of shops, the Alpine Market, Alpine Village Restaurant, and a museum and learning center run by the Los Angeles Turners. The property is located in a portion of unincorporated Los Angeles County just east of Torrance and is not currently protected.

We will continue to monitor this situation and keep you posted. Learn more about this issue on our website: http://bit.ly/2Xx4Kz3
