Dear Neighbor,
Like so many of you, I am deeply concerned about the affordable housing and homelessness crisis facing Greater Los Angeles and communities across the country.
As the Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, which has oversight responsibility of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development and other federal housing agencies, I am pleased to inform you that on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, my Committee will host a field hearing entitled, “Examining the Homelessness Crisis in Los Angeles” at the California African American Museum right here in Los Angeles.
During the hearing, members of our community will have the opportunity to hear directly from Financial Services Committee members, state and local officials, experts, and advocates who will discuss actions we can take to confront the homelessness crisis with the urgency it deserves, such as my landmark bill, H.R. 1856, The Ending Homelessness Act, which will provide $13 billion in emergency funding to end homelessness in America.WHO:
