In tribute to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life and unparalleled legacy, South Bay Film Society has joined with Magnolia Pictures in their re-release of the documentary RBG for Virtual Cinema.

Magnolia Pictures is donating all its film proceeds to the ACLU Women’s Rights Project, which was co-founded by Justice Ginsburg in 1972.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg developed a lengthy legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon.   But the unique personal journey of her rise to the nation’s highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans – until this documentary exploring Ginsburg’s life and career.

Included with this screening is a nearly hour-long interview conducted via Zoom earlier this summer with Betsy West and Julie Cohen, the film’s directors.

Oscar Nomination for Best Documentary Feature

“VITAL.   A FISTPUMPING, CROWD-PLEASING DOC.   Makes one heck of a play to remind people of Ginsburg’s vitality and importance, now more than ever.” – Kate Erbland, IndieWire

“I CAN’T THINK OF A DRAMATIC FILM ON SCREEN RIGHT NOW THAT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL THIS GOOD, AND THAT’S A FACT.” – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

“This woman is a force, and the great service this clear-eyed and admiring documentary provides is to emphasize not just Ginsburg’s work on the court but how extraordinarily influential she was before she even got there.” – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

“The movie’s touch is light and its spirit buoyant, but there is no mistaking its seriousness or its passion.” – A.O. Scott, New York Times
