Join STAND-L.A. on Thursday, March 25th at 6 pm PST for a virtual town hall event and toxic tour to hear from City Council members and frontline activists about Los Angeles' chance to build a healthier and more just fossil-free future!
We will provide an overview of STAND-L.A.'s campaign for environmental justice and the City Council's upcoming policy opportunity to phase out oil drilling in communties across the City. We will also be guiding attendees through a virtual "Toxic Tour" of an oil drilling site to illustrate the dangerous proximity of oil extraction sites to homes, schools, hospitals, churches, and parks in frontline communities. There be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions of frontline residents and Councilmembers during the Q&A portion of the panel discussion.

NOTE TO LWVTA FROM:
We would like to invite you to join STAND-LA (Stand Together Against Neighborhood Oil Drilling—Los Angeles) for a VIRTUAL town hall event on Thursday, March 25th from 6 PM-8 PM. Please RSVP here.
This will be an opportunity for community members to ask questions of key elected officials in the panel about their plan to lead Los Angeles in a phase-out of oil drilling city-wide. We will provide an overview of STAND-L.A's campaign to end urban oil drilling, the current status of the motion to pursue a citywide phase-out, and present our key demands to the elected. There will also be a virtual toxic tour showing the dangerous proximity of oil extraction sites to frontline residents’ homes, schools, places of worship, workplaces, and parks.
Your presence will help us show the widespread support of STAND LA efforts to protect Angelinos from harmful oil drilling operations in close proximity to where people live, play, and pray. RSVP here and please let me know if we can count on you to attend on 3-25. And be one of the 300 attendees we’re working on having that the elected will see showing in the zoom participant icon.
Read about the Motion recently passed by the Environmental Committee ECCEJ here: https://www.nrdc.org/experts/damon-nagami/angeles-edges-closer-phasing-out-urban-oil-drilling
Our demands are clear:
1) Phase-out oil drilling city-wide
2) Reduce the phase-out period to 5 years
3) Ensure oil companies pay for clean up
