Despite recent federal setbacks for voting rights, the LWVC is standing firm to protect our democracy through bold advocacy and legislative action. We are actively fighting back against voter suppression and building state-level safeguards to ensure every voice is heard and every vote remains secure.

Spring is arriving with extraordinary urgency for our democracy. At the League of Women Voters of California, we are stepping forward with determination - organizing, educating, and building the coalitions necessary to meet this moment.

The League strongly supports AB 1537, prohibiting California peace officers from holding secondary employment with the U.S. DHS or any other entity engaged in immigration enforcement.

I know that it has been a difficult and heavy start to the year for many of us. Across the country - and here in California - we are witnessing deeply troubling and harmful ICE activity that is creating fear and uncertainty in our communities.
