Stay Informed Series - Redistricting at the state and county levels

Redistricting in California at the state and local level, why it matters, what the process is, and how local Leagues and League members can be involved.

Redistricting, the process of redrawing electoral district boundaries based on new census data, is an invisible but influential force in elections. The League of Women Voters of Western Nevada County will host an online discussion about what redistricting is, how the process is conducted, and how people can get involved.

Helen Hutchinson, Board member and past President of the League of Women Voters of California, and Nevada County Counsel Kit Elliott will address "Redistricting: What it is and Why it Matters" via Zoom on February 13 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

With the data from the 2020 census expected to be released later this year, California redistricting committees at the state and local level are already beginning to prepare. This online presentation will explain how the redistricting process works, how it impacts voters, and how people can get involved.
