The League of Women Voters considers the protection of our environment and natural resources to be a priority.  It seeks to increase public awareness of the influence of human activities on the ecosystem.  The elimination of single use plastics is an important and effective way of reducing plastic in our environment.  Below, please find out how you can help reduce the use of plastic straws.

Plastic Free Delaware has adviced us of House Resolution No.7 which encourages restaurants to reduce use of plastic straws, will be voted on 3/27.  Synopis of the resolution:  This resolution recognizes the Delaware Restaurant Association for efforts towards better environmental practices in restaurants through the use of fewer plastic straws.  The resolution also requires that the Delaware Restaurant Association track the progress of its voluntary approach to reduce the use of plastic straws and provide a report to the General Assembly by May 1, 2020. 

If you support this endeavor, call your legislators and express your concern about plastic.  They need to know that you are concerned and that you want them to support this resolution.
