October 22-23 Relay from West Virginia to DC for Freedom to Vote See attached screenshots from the call I was on last night - I’m thinking we can participate in the bike/hike part from Glen Echo to AU on Friday and then again on Saturday.
From Glen Echo to AU is about 5 miles which I think is about a 2 hour walk or a half hour bike ride. Nancy Soreng is making maps for the trails.
The stopping points/baton passing points along the whole route have civil rights history significance. Glen Echo park was segregated until Howard students held a sit-in in 1960. https://glenechopark.org/civil-rights
Here is the website to register for the event. https://freedomtovoterelay.org/ LWVUS Alicia Guerri <agurrieri [at] lwv.org> is also part of the team.
