Statement for League of Women Voters of Georgia

U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration Field Hearing on Protecting the Freedom to Vote: Recent Changes to Georgia Voting Laws and the Need for Basic Federal Standards to Make Sure All Americans Can Vote in the Way that Works Best for Them

July 17, 2021

Over 1.47 million Georgians have already cast a ballot in the January 5, 2021 runoff election, either via absentee vote by mail or early in-person voting.

Georgians are voting in record numbers this election cycle - both via absentee ballots and early in-person voting. The League of Women Voters of Georgia (LWVGA) applauds Georgians who have already cast their ballots, especially those who have been willing to spend up to 10 hours in lines in order to cast their votes. It is unacceptable that voters throughout Georgia have been unable to quickly vote at early voting centers.

What's Your MVP?

We know you've been working hard keeping up with the issues, registering new voters, "Hustling" to encourage the census and absentee ballots so...

Your support goes directly to the League's work to protect and defend our democracy. Together we ensure our elections are free, fair and accessible; protect our environment; and reduce the influence of money in our elections.
