VIrtual Program on Abolition of the Electoral College

Location

Virtual Meeting
US
Wednesday, November 11, 2020 - 7:00pm to Thursday, November 12, 2020 - 6:45pm

At the recent LWVUS convention the delegation from Illinois was able to convince the national league to make abolition of the electoral college an action item.   LWVUS has long held a position to this effect but two years ago decided to try an approach short of abolition.  Now that abolition of the electoral college is again an action item it is appropriate for us to understand its importance.   What better time than a week after the 2020 election!

This program will be presented by Joyce Williams, an Issues Specialist with the League of Women Voters of Illinois.   She is a founding member of the LWVIL's Electoral College Committee.   In that role she has presented the League's position on the Electoral College to many organizations including the successful caucuses at the LWVUS conventions in 2018 and 2020.

Joyce is a member of the League of Women Voters of the La Grange Area where she serves as Director of Voter Registration.  She is a graduate of Northwestern University and lives with her husband in the southwest suburban area of Chicago.
