CHANGE IN VOTING LAW: A new law passed by the Iowa Legislature last year affects the election of the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. The county is now divided into 5 districts with one representative to be elected from each district to comprise the full Board of Supervisors. The Primary Election is June 2, 2026. There are no contested races for the Republican party. Four of the five districts in Johnson County have contested races for the Democratic nominee. League of Women Voters of Johnson County is holding Democratic Primary Candidate Forums for Districts 1, 2, 4, and 5 (District 3 is uncontested). District 5 includes University Heights and parts of west and south Iowa City and is a four-year term. Voters will be able to vote only for candidates in their district. All five seats on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors will be on the ballot this Fall.
