A Local Option Sales and Services Tax is on the ballot for the November 4, 2025 Election. It will be voted on by residents of Iowa City, Coralville and North Liberty. Each town has designated how it will use the funds. Information on the back of the flyer is the same for all three towns. Oxford and Shueyville also have local option sales and services tax measures on the ballot. The propsed 1% additional tax in those communties would be used for porperty tax relief (50%), and in Oxford, 50% for any other lawful purposes as determined by the City Council and in Shueyville 50% would be used for any lawful purpose, including, but not limited to public infrastructure.

All local option sales taxes are collected at the county level and then distributed to participating cities using a formula for the Iowa Department of Revenue that takes into account population and property valuations.
