We believe in the power of people to create a more perfect democracy. The League of Women Voters (LWV) has evolved from a mighty political experiment designed to help 20 million newly enfranchised women vote in 1920, to what it is today: a unique, nonpartisan organization that is a recognized force in molding political leaders, shaping public policy, and promoting informed citizen participation at all levels of government. Join us and participate in our achievements for the next 100 years!

With Your Membership, You Get

  • A membership to LWV United States with access to information on national issues and opportunities to become active in national efforts. ($32 of your dues goes to this membership.)
  • A membership to the LWV  Wisconsin with access to information on state issues and opportunities to get more involved by joining other members from Wisconsin on matters affecting voting. ($30 of your dues goes to this membership.)
  • Quarterly members’ meetings to review state and national efforts and recommend our local chapter’s priorities and goals.
  • Become a member in one (or any) committees or teams such as Environment, Fair Elections, Voter Services, Public Education, Healthcare.
  • Participate and help with special events and programs throughout the year.
  • Learn more about what is happening through newsletters, websites, and social media.
  • Meet people who want to improve the quality of life in their communities.
  • Learn more about current events affecting our communities.
  • Contribute to efforts to inform and positively impact our communities.

Cost to Join/Renew

We appreciate that the ability to pay changes at different times in our lives.  

As an individual member, your dues include the national and state memberships and a modest contribution to the local chapter.  As a sustaining member, you are ensuring our local league grows stronger and more vibrant.

  • Individual Member: Fee covers $32 US; $30 WI; and $8 GGB - $70
  • Sustaining Member: Fee covers $32 US; $30 WI; and $68 GGB - $130
  • Student: Currently enrolled in high school or high education - $10
  • Household: (Individual + 1 at same address) Fee includes $48 US; $45 WI; $12 GGB - $105
  • Sustaining Household: (same address ) includes $48 US; $45 WI; $102 GGB - $195 
  • Additional Member: (applicable if adding an additional member, same address at later date)       Fee includes $16 US; $15 WI; $4 GGB - $35
  • Associate Member: (Non-voting member, member of local league only) - $35

Lifetime members

who have served the League for 50 years or more do not pay dues.  And yes, we have several who remain active participants in making Democracy work.

The League of Women Voters of Greater Green Bay (LWVGGB) membership runs from April 1 through March 31st. 

New memberships are accepted anytime but membership is not prorated.  But if you first join in January through March, you will receive those extra months with your membership through the following March 31st.  

Member Assistance 

Our Member Assistance Program offers subsidized membership for individuals with limited financial resources.  Assistance is good for one year, ending March 31st.  Assistance may be renewable at the discretion of the President.

For those that receive assistance, we ask that they make the following commitment:

  • Pay whatever is affordable,
  • Become an active participant in the non-partisan work of the league.

The League of Women Voters of Greater Green Bay (LWVGGB) is a tax-exempt organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the I.R.S. Code.  Donations and dues are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law (E.I.N. 23-7016099).

But most of all by joining, you will be part of a large effort in making Democracy work.  Knowing that whatever time or talent you have is welcome.  You will enjoy being part of a non-partisan political organization, encouraging informed and active participation in government by discussing major public policy issues and influencing public policy through your education and advocacy.
