Time Range For Action Alert:
Apr 10 2025 to Dec 31 2025
The House voted to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act by a margin of 220-208. This bill would require eligible Americans to provide documentary proof of citizenship in person to register to vote.
It is already illegal for noncitizens to register and vote in federal or state elections. The bill’s requirement of a document to prove American citizenship to register to vote in federal elections would unnecessarily burden many communities of voters. If the Senate also passes the SAVE Act this Congress, voters must present citizenship documentation to re-register every time they move.
Please use this action alert to send your member of the House a letter about their vote on the bill.
