The American Library Association (ALA) and League of Women Voters (LWV) announce the publication of a Guide to Civic Collaboration, a joint resource to inspire and support year-round civic programming in libraries.
Published as a companion piece to the Election Collaboration Toolkit, the Guide to Civic Collaboration celebrates the joint efforts by local libraries and Leagues to ensure that their communities have information, tools, and access necessary to participate fully in civic life.
“ALA is proud to partner with the League of Women Voters, an organization that shares our commitment to empowering local voices that envision and build thriving and connected communities across the United States,” said Sam Helmick, ALA President.
"The League couldn't be prouder of our partnership with the American Library Association to enhance civic programming in libraries," said Celina Stewart, Esq., CEO of the League of Women Voters of the US. "In a time when education is under attack and misinformation runs rampant, our local libraries are a vital resource for communities in need of trusted information."
The new resource is jointly hosted by ALA and LWV and available to all library and League supporters. The national partnership shines a spotlight on the local work, highlighting best practices and resources for local adaptation.
