WASHINGTON, DC — Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4 will mark one of the most important off-year election cycles, in which millions of voters will determine the direction of their states and local communities. With races for Governor and state legislature in New Jersey and Virginia, tens of thousands of local offices, and statewide and local ballot measures on the ballot, the League of Women Voters (LWV) is issuing a final call to action urging every eligible citizen to prepare to cast their vote tomorrow. Voters can visit  VOTE411.org, LWV’s nonpartisan resource for Election Day success.

The call for participation coincides with the sixth annual observance of Election Hero Day (EHD), a national recognition of the tireless efforts of election officials, their staff, poll workers, and volunteers. For the first time, LWV is proudly serving as EHD’s managing partner for this nonpartisan celebration, applauding the unsung heroes whose work safeguards every vote. As voters prepare to cast their ballots tomorrow, LWV is encouraging voters to thank the election heroes in their community who ensure that elections are secure, accessible, and fair.

"Let us be clear: Democracy is strongest when every eligible voter can show up and take action,” said Celina Stewart, CEO of the League of Women Voters Education Fund. “Visit VOTE411 to lock in your voting plan—find your polling place, know what ID you need, get to know the candidates and issues—and show up ready to cast your ballot with purpose and conviction. Democracy thrives when people show up for their communities and refuse to sit on the sidelines. Make your mark. Your vote is your power, and it’s needed more than ever now.”

“At the League, our core mission is to enable voters to exercise their civic power to participate effectively in our democracy,” said Jeanette Senecal, Chief of Civic Learning and Impact of the League of Women Voters Education Fund. “By providing information on more than 34,000 candidates and ballot measures on the ballot November 4th, VOTE411 stands ready as the premier nonpartisan tool to help voters make decisions as they head to the polls.”
