A Revelation of Character: Bringing Abolitionist History to Life

Experience a powerful retelling of the abolitionist movement through A Revelation of Character, a new short play commissioned by the Associates of the Boston Public Library and written by award-winning playwright Patrick Gabridge in collaboration with Plays in Place. Inspired by real letters from the BPL’s Anti-Slavery Collection, the play brings to life the complex relationship between Lydia Maria Child and Maria Weston Chapman as they work to end slavery.
