Discussion will focus on public transportation in Lexington with transit information about Lexpress, its history, current and future, and the new MBTA routes, including Sunday service.
Speakers will be Susan Barrett, Transportation Manager for the Town of Lexington, and Sandy Johnston, Deputy Director of Regional Transit Planning for the MBTA.
Sandy Johnston is the Deputy Director of Regional Transit Planning at the MBTA, where he works on regional coordination and long-range planning, helping the T meet the challenges and opportunities of today and the future. Before the T, Sandy worked for 6 years at the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in a variety of roles. Sandy lives in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston and is an Orange Line rider.
Susan Barrett has been the Transportation Manager in Lexington since 2018 where she focuses on programs and services to induce mode shift and enhance mobility. Prior to this, she also worked in affordable housing and community development and enjoyed several years teaching in Portland State University's Toulan School of Urban Studies & Planning. In her free time, she runs a Transportation Book Club for the Transportation Planning Division of the American Planning Association.
This program is the first in the 2025-2026 LWV First Friday Forum series hosted by the League of Women Voters to promote awareness and understanding of public policy issues.
