The School Building Committee has approved a plan, “Bloom” for the new high school and building on the current playing fields in the Center. Do you support this decision? If not, what would you propose as an alternative?

I fully support the "Bloom" proposal. Lexington has a strong reputation for academic excellence, and it is essential that we continue to foster and enhance this standard. The LPS 21st-century educational plan has pushed our current school facilities beyond their limits. Our existing high school building, which is aging and severely over capacity, can no longer meet the demands of our students and educators. A new Lexington High School (LHS) will provide the necessary resources and opportunities that our current facility simply cannot support.

As we move forward, we must be intentional and strategic in our decisions, ensuring a balance between fiscal responsibility and long-term educational needs. It is also important to consider the financial impact on taxpayers while prioritizing the district's future goals. As the "Bloom" proposal progresses through the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) process, I remain committed to making thoughtful, informed choices that serve both our students and our community.
