The League of Women Voters of Mississippi heartily supports the efforts of our Legislators in expanding the opportunity for Absentee Voting through the passage of HB 1521. This bill is not perfect, as we would have liked to have seen the Emergency Order caveat removed and, as has been ordered by the courts in other states, the notary requirements; however it is a major improvement over the status quo. We give it our full support, as it will go a long way toward ensuring that voting is safe, secure and available to all Mississippi voters.
