King tides are making news from Boston to Miami to Hawaii, and their increasing frequency are indications of the rising sea levels that are here to stay in Hawaii, posing a serious threat to hotels, commercial, and residential structures along the shoreline, as well as state transportation and infrastructure.

Recognizing the challenges, Oahu’s voters passed an amendment to Honolulu’s charter creating the Honolulu Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency.
