LWVNH Local Leagues

Local Leagues and local units are groups of League members from specific New Hampshire regions, cities or towns. Local League meetings focus on policy and governmental issues concerning the local area but also act on state and national issues. Local Leagues' voter education and voter service efforts will generally serve the citizens of that region, city or town. However, members may join any unit they like and are not restricted to their geographical region.

Meetings are held on varying schedules. They are intended to increase members' knowledge about policy and governmental issues, arrive at League positions on policy, and determine what courses of action are needed to put these policies in effect. One need not attend local League meetings to be a member. Participation via response to "calls for action" is also very important.

More information about contacting League of Women Voters of New Hampshire units can be found here. Information on League of Women Voters of New Hampshire membership can be found here.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many avenues of participating in League activities. Possibilities range from working on voter service projects, administering events, developing publications, helping in the League office during elections, fundraising, writing emails and letters to legislators, making phone calls, or even working on a web page or Facebook page. There is something for everyone! Once you become a member, you will learn of specific opportunities through your local League or the New Hampshire Voter, the E-newsletter of the League of Women Voters of New Hampshire sent about 9 times a year.

No Time?

The League of Women Voters of New Hampshire maintains a guilt-free policy for its members. You can join and participate as much, or as little, as you like. Many active members were inactive for years, then increased their participation as their lives changed. Membership dues of both active and less active members make possible continuing projects at the state and national levels.

Non-members can support the activities of the League as well. Send us an email via the membership/president category of our website and we'll put you on our emailing list. Your response to action alerts helps us greatly.
