Stand up and be counted! That literally will be our mantra as we head into the 2020 Census. The census, which is taken every 10 years, is an official count of a population and is required by the Constitution. The results of the census have far reaching effects. The census determines how many seats we will be allotted in the U.S. House of Representatives. And, just as importantly, it determines the allocation of resources for our state on the federal, state and local levels.

The LWV Campaign Finance Committee is sponsoring a special event on the evening of Wednesday, October 2 to inform people about the census and how it will affect us. Guest Speaker: Patricia D. Williamson, NJ Counts Project Director

Currently, the Census Bureau has already begun efforts to recruit census takers. We encourage you to attend our Fall event, fill out your census form when you get it, and perhaps even participate as a census taker.
