Congratulations for passing historic voting reforms this session and taking a giant step toward bringing New York voting into the 21st century. Thank you for putting funding for early voting and electronic poll books into your one-house budgets. We need to make sure that adequate and dedicated funding for early voting and electronic poll books is in the final state budget.
Negotiations for the State Budget are now occurring. Please call your Assemblymember and Senator and urge them to ensure funding for early voting and electronic poll books are included in the final budget!

Voting is about to get easier for New Yorkers. Effective for the November general election, New York State will have in-person early voting for nine days before every election. The League is now shifting its focus to advocate adequate funding for early voting to ensure a successful launch and not have it become a burden on counties. The counties cannot rely on long-term cost savings in the short run. The State budget needs to provide dedicated funding for the start-up costs of implementation, electronic poll books, and education. Electronic poll books are essential for ease and accuracy during the early voting period, especially in larger counties.
We need you to send a message to your State Senator and Assembly member to get early voting in New York off to a good start! The budget deadline is April 1.
