Onondaga County Board of Elections

You can register in person at the Board of Elections Office or by mail.  If you have questions or need a voter application form call the Board of Elections  at (315) 435-8683 .  http://www.ongov.net/elections

 You may also register at the New York State DMV:  https://dmv.ny.gov/more-info/electronic-voter-registration-application 

Registration applications cannot be be faxed.

Voter Information

Primary Election: September 12, 2017 

  • August 18th: Last day to postmark an application to be eligible to vote in the Primary Election.
  • August 18th: Last day to register in-person at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, to be eligible to vote in the Primary Election. 

General Election: November 7, 2017

  • October 13th: Last day to postmark an application to be eligible to vote in the General Election.
  • October 13th: Last day to register in-person at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, to be eligible to vote in the General Election.
  • October 13th: Last day to accept a change of party enrollment.
  • October 28th: Last day to register in person at the Board of Elections if you have been honorably discharged from the military, became a naturalized citizen, or are a registered voter who has moved within the county after October 13th.

Absentee Ballots 

  • October 31st: Last day to postmark application for absentee ballot.
  • November 6th: Last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot & last day to postmark ballot for general the election.
  • November 7th: Last day to deliver an absentee ballot in person to your county board of elections.
