Reader's Choice Book Club! This month the Book Club will be discussing the Second Amendment, as presented in two different books: "The Second Amendment: A Biography" by Michael Walkman and "Loaded: A Disarming History of the Second Amendment" by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz. We invite participants to read one or both of these interesting and informative selections:
"The Second Amendment: A Biography" ...Widely acclaimed at the time of its publication, the life story of the most controversial, volatile, misunderstood provision of the Bill of Rights.
"Loaded: A Disarming History of the Second Amendment," is a deeply researched—and deeply disturbing—history of guns and gun laws in the United States, from the original colonization of the country to the present. As historian and educator Dunbar-Ortiz explains, in order to understand the current obstacles to gun control, we must understand the history of U.S. guns, from their role in the "settling of America" and the early formation of the new nation, and continuing up to the present.
No reservations are necessary to attend the Book Club, and all are welcome and encouraged to attend. For additional information, contact Daisy Tyler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
