Fail the third-grade standardized test and, along with other factors, it could lead to a student repeating a grade. Those stakes are pretty high, wouldn't you say, for students and parents? The League of Women Voters of Ohio has just updated its education position advocating that standardized tests not be used to determine critical student progress. The League wants to see the state find another way to ensure standardized tests are a tool for student success.
Our fall kick-off meeting will feature a conversation with LWVO Statehouse education lobbyist Susan Kaeser, education professionals and people impacted by what happens when a student has difficulties with standardized testing. LWV Kent Education Chair Deborah Austin Sanders will facilitate the discussion. A question-and-answer period will follow.
