The League of Women Voters, founded by leaders of the women’s suffrage movement, for more than 100 years, has been a nonpartisan, activist, grassroots organization. The League believes voters play a critical role in democracy and continues the fight to protect the rights of eligible voters and to expand access for those who have been left out of our democratic process. The League works to educate and empower voters, advocates, and when necessary takes legal actions. Challenges that threaten to compromise our democracy include voter suppression and discrimination at the local, state and national level.
