How to Replace Link to Document / PDF
When linking to a file (a PDF or any other document) that was uploaded to the Media Library, the Media browser tool inserts a special string of HTML code to generate that link.

If you need to replace that link, follow the steps below for the best practice on how to successfully remove the current link to that file. Once that is done, you can add the new file link over the same text.
NOTE: The original file will still remain in the Media Library; only the link's destination will be updated when following the steps below.
Remove Current File Link
There are two different ways you can remove the current link to a PDF or Media Library document.
1st Method: Preserving the Original Link Text
This method allows you to continue using the existing link text without having to re-type anything.
Remove Formatting
Highlight the whole word or phrase that is currently linked. With the entire link text selected, click the Remove Formatting icon.

2nd Method: Deleting Original Link Text
You will remove and re-type the link text using this method.
Remove Link Text
Using your keyboard, remove the entire link text by deleting/backspacing character by character, or delete the entire word or phrase at once.
Remove Leading Space
Once the link text is gone, continue deleting/backspacing until the space before the link text is also removed. If the link text was on its own line (paragraph break), delete/backspace until you reach the previous paragraph.
Add New File Link
- If you used the first method, begin by highlighting the word or phrase that will become your link.
- If you used the second method, enter/return to a new paragraph line and type out the word or phrase that will serve as the new link text. Highlight that word or phrase.
Then, use the Media browser icon to access the Media Library and select the file you wish to serve as the new link destination. Once you submit your selected file, the link text will activate.
