UNC’s Boyd Tinsley Professor of Law and former Law School Dean, GENE NICHOL will speak on “The War Against Democracy in North Carolina” at the League of Women Voters Charlotte Mecklenburg’s Lunch With the League, Wednesday, October 13 at 11:30 a.m-1:00 p.m. on ZOOM. Considering Dr. Nichol’s wide appeal, the event is open to Leaguers statewide and to the public.

Dr. Nichol, a frequent contributor to The Raleigh News and Observer and the Charlotte Observer newspapers, researches and writes about the issues of poverty and justice. A Sought-after speaker, both locally and nationally, Dr. Nichol is the recipient of numerous awards in recognition of his work on poverty and justice and helped establish the UNC Center for Civil Rights which works to dismantle structural racism. In addition to his articles in law reviews, he is the author of The Faces of Poverty in North Carolina and Federal Court and the recently published: Indecent Assembly, The North Carolina Legislature’s Blueprint for the War on Democracy and Equality. This promises to be a not-to-be-missed event for Leaguers and the public alike.
