Location
On Monday October 18 at 1 p.m. League of Women Voters Downers Grove, Lisle, Woodridge is planning a field trip to view the proposed redistricting maps that are now on Display at the DuPage County Head Quarters in the County Board Room located at 421 N. County Farm Road (Jack T. Knuepfer building).
Members will meet just inside the main entrance (near the security desk) – there is a big bench just in front of the restrooms. For those that have been before, the main entrance is kinda/sorta near the entrance to the Clerk’s office. You can no longer enter through the parking garage, only staff can enter through the parking garage, though you can still park in the garage.
Promptly, at 1 p.m. Carol Jeanne Davis (our Program Chair for Programs and Civic Engagement) will lead the group up to the County Board room to view the maps. County staff will be present to answer any questions on process and procedure for how the maps were drawn.
If you don’t know much about redistricting, don’t worry – lots of us didn’t until this process started. This field trip is a great way to understand the process and procedure about what you read about so often in the paper.
At the end of this email are the guidelines League suggests for redistricting. You may want to print out a copy and bring it with you. If you desire, you can also leave public comment on your thoughts about the proposed map. In fact, County Officials welcome your input.
