Why are you running for a position as a Town Meeting Member?  Is there a particular issue you hope to address?

I have lived in Lexington for nearly 20 years and I raised two children who attended public school in town. I work as a historian at UMass Boston where I direct a statewide community history program and teach public history. As a Town Meeting Member, I would like to draw on my experience as a public historian and with initiatives such as Lexington Community Farm and the reuse of the Stone Building to participate more actively in shaping thoughtfully the continued development of the town. I am interested in engaging my neighbors and fellow Precinct 2 residents in the pressing issues of the moment including preserving historic structures and landscapes, fostering affordable and equitable residential development, and promoting racial and economic inclusivity and equity. I seek to find ways to balance market and political pressures with ways of ensuring that all community members can benefit from the strong and unique sense of place that defines our town.
