Why are you running for a position as a Town Meeting Member? Is there a particular issue you hope to address?

I have been involved in a number of local community groups since I moved to Lexington with my husband and three young children in 2010. I first decided to run for Town Meeting in 2020 and have been serving for the past 3 years. I take care to stay informed, reading through provided materials, asking questions when matters are not clear in advance of Town Meeting, and attending or watching recordings of relevant town committee meetings. It takes time to evaluate the risks, benefits, potential unintended consequences, and resident views of proposed articles that Town Meeting votes upon, but I am committed to do so. I am running for reelection again this year since I believe we are current facing a number of decisions that can benefit from Town Meeting Members who are committed to working through issues, collaborating with colleagues, and seeking missing information. For example, the MBTA rezoning requirements, the impact and pressure such rezoning may place on town infrastructure, the vitality of Lexington Center and the ability of our local retails to be able to thrive, and future capital projects such as the high school are all important, and complex, matters that will have significant impact on our town going forward. These issues deserve Town Meeting members who will make a commitment to cast informed and considered votes. I regrettably cannot attend the Candidates Forum this year, but I am always open to hearing from, and responding to, residents by email or phone.
