GUIDELINES

Reading preferences: We read any books that we feel will open our minds and generate discussion. They do not have to relate to the mission or actions of LWV. They can be fiction or non-fiction. The person nominating a book must have read it and will be the discussion leader, if the book is chosen for the club.

Selection of the books: Selection is by a simple vote of those present. Each person gets three votes to cast for the books nominated by those present. We will pick 3 books at the meeting, for the following 3 meetings.

Meetings: 2nd Tuesdays, 7-9 PM, odd numbered months: July, September, November, January, March, and May.

Logistics: Currently we are meeting on Zoom. Before the pandemic, we met in member homes, allowing 7-7:15 PM as a time to gather, and get a drink and nibbles. The remainder of the meeting is devoted to discussion of the book for that evening. Every 3rd meeting, we also choose the 3 books and the hosts for the next 3 meetings (6 months). The host changes for each meeting. Generally, the host is not the discussion leader. The host provides light refreshments, such as coffee, tea, cookies, wine & cheese, etc.

Book Exchange: We have a book exchange at least once a year. Generally, if you bring a book, you can take a book; but if there are enough books, even those who have not brought a book to exchange may take one. Several members read electronic books, which unfortunately cannot be part of an exchange. If any books are left over, we donate them to SCARCE.
